SSAB’s Design and Installation Manuals for RR® and RD® piles and for RD® pile wall are intended to facilitate the design and execution of piling. They are based on EN standards and national requirements.

Design and installation manual for RR and RD piles has been updated during May. Updates include i.e. new pile size RRs220/10 made of high strength steel and new threaded mechanical splice for RD270 pile size. Also all references to recently updated EN standards have been revised.

RR and RD piles, Design and Installation Manual

The manual deals with driven and jacked SSAB’s RR and RRs piles, shaft grouted driven CSG-RR piles and drilled RD and RDs piles. It covers all SSAB’s steel pile sizes. The manual is based on the Eurocode design standards, National Annexes and other relevant EN standards. The manual is also based on the national piling instructions; in Finland the Finnish Piling Manual PO-2011 and in Sweden the reports of the Pålkommission.

The manual describes the basis of the design and dimensioning of SSAB’s steel piles and pile foundations according to Eurocodes and National Annexes, gives recommendations on the selection of pile type and size and provides advice on the handling and installation, quality control, measurements and documentation of piling. The manual includes pre-calculated dimensioning tables and design and excecution examples to facilitate the design and excecutionof piling. When SSAB steel piles are used outside Finland or Sweden, national requirements (excecution and national annexes of Eurocodes) shall be taken into account in design and execution of piles.

SSAB’s RR, RRs, RD and RDs piles have European Technical Assessment ETA-12/0526.

RD pile wall, Design and Installation Manual

RD pile wall Design and Installation Manual deals with retaining wall solutions using drilled SSAB’s RD piles. The design methods shown there are based on Eurocode design standards and other relevant EN standards. The manual presents the basis of RD pile wall design and installation, recommendations for choosing the most suitable pile size and interlock type, instructions for handling and installation, as well as instructions for quality control, measurements and documentation. The manual also includes pre-calculated tables and implementation examples to facilitate the design and execution of an RD pile wall solution.

The contents of language versions of the Design and Installation Manuals for RR and RD piles are designed for specific markets. Please note that Finnish norms are taken into account in Finnish and English version and Swedish norms are taken into account in Swedish version.
