Ytri Island Retreat – A color coated hotel at the dramatic edge of the Norwegian Sea
At the very edge of the archipelago, in the island municipality of Træna off the Norwegian coast, lies Ytri Island Retreat. It is defined by a series of small, colorful houses clad in color coated steel, mostly GreenCoat®, that together resemble a tiny fishing village. The distinctive mountain Trænstaven forms a majestic backdrop to the hotel, which is otherwise surrounded by soft heather moors.

Long product life plays an important role when specifying building materials. The new UV (Ruv5) and RC corrosion (RC5+) classes from the new standard EN10169:2022 ensure that building products have an extremely long product life, which has already been confirmed by SSAB’s GreenCoat® guarantees. Over 10,000 panels of GreenCoat® color coated steel have been exposed year-round to harsh climates and conditions, including saltwater, snow, ice, rain, UV-radiation, high humidity, wind and storm to ensure the highest product performance.

GreenCoat® Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
We provide EPDs for GreenCoat® color coated steel and our low-emission steel color coated steel with SSAB Zero™. The EPDs are available to give you details about how we produce color coated steel and care for the product lifecycle. The fossil carbon emissions in SSAB’s production of SSAB Zero™ are less than 0.05 kg CO₂e/kg steel in Scope 1 and 2 of the GHG Protocol.
