Updates for PileCalc and PileWallCalc designer tools
Both programs have now a notification about recent updates. The notification will appear at the first login after an update has been released. The notification shows a short description on all the new updates. This helps the users to keep on track what new features the programs have.
Transferring of projects to another user
The programs have previously had a functionality to send a calculation model to another user. This new functionality allows user to send a whole project to another user. In this new feature the project is not copied, it is moved to another user and the project will be removed from the original user’s project list.
The functionality can be found from the project list. There is a “Transfer projects” button at the top of the window. By pressing the button the user is able to select project(s) and transfer them. The user needs to input the email address of the person receiving the projects.
.
This functionality can be used for example if some other person takes the lead of the project or if some person leaves the company. In some cases this might also be used to archive the projects.
Updates for PileCalc
In Advanced FEM part there is now a possibility to add also uniform load to the top of the ground. This will have effect on the lateral subgrade reaction of friction soils, since the stress level in soil changes.
The fictive imperfection of piles was considered slightly wrong way in Advanced FEM calculations. It was determined based on the cu value given in the Input data section. This was fixed and now the calculation is correct and the fictive imperfection is calculated based on soil properties given in Advanced FEM section.
Several users have asked for possibility to get more numerical results from Advanced FEM. This was enabled by adding a “Save to Excel” functionality. The button can be found from above the figure in Advanced FEM section. The functionality saves the data shown in the graphs in numerical format. It also save the soil related data on each node. The data includes for example the lateral subgrade reaction and the extreme lateral resistance of the soil.

New connector profile for Combined walls with RD piles
When a Combined pile wall is made by using RD piles, the connectors in piles need to be different than with RR piles. With RD piles the connector which is connected to a previously installed sheet pile needs to be a wide one. This is now considered by adding a possibility to use LBP180-10 connector as a wide one together with E21 connector as a narrow one. The widths of the connectors have been considered in the design resistances of the walls and also on the center-center distance between RD piles.
Where to find PileCalc and PileWallCalc programs
PileCalc and PileWallCalc programs for SSAB pile products are available for free at SSAB Tubular Design Tools.
From the same place you can also find FrameCalc and FrameFEM design tools for steel structures.
