SSAB to celebrate Finland’s centenary year with charity programs for children and young people

May 09, 2017 9:15 CEST
In celebration of the centenary of Finland's independence, SSAB will be supporting charitable projects for children and young people in locations where we have sites. The personnel is participating in choosing the charities.

"The theme of Finland's centenary celebration year is Together. Therefore, we want to support the wellbeing of children and young people in locations where we have sites in Finland. Our personnel will choose the charity projects and can also participate in voluntary work themselves," says Taina Kyllönen, Head of Group Communications. SSAB's subsidiaries Ruukki Construction and Tibnor are also participating in the project.

SSAB aims to enhance the wellbeing of children and young people in locations where it has sites and to potentially create permanent ways for employees to volunteer and do things together locally.

SSAB will donate a reasonable sum to one or more charities, chosen by the personnel, in locations where they have sites in Finland. SSAB also encourages its employees to participate in voluntary work in the charity chosen and will collaborate with the recipient of aid in organizing employee voluntary work.

Every SSAB, Ruukki Construction or Tibnor employee in Finland can suggest any charities that they consider suitable. The activities should benefit children and young people  and take place locally in the location of an SSAB site and/or its neighboring municipalities.

The personnel will choose the charities during the spring and summer. The actual donations and voluntary work will take place in the fall.
