During press brake operations, the operator needs to overbend the material—bending it beyond the desired angle—to compensate for springback. This is caused by elastic deformation during the operation.
To effectively compensate for springback, the die should be designed to allow for overbending.
Springback increases with the strength of the steel and with the ratio between die width and plate thickness (W/t).

It is not possible to bend high-strength steel to a 90-degree angle using a die with a 90-degree opening due to springback.
To compensate for springback, the die must be designed to allow for overbending beyond the desired final angle.
Springback is especially significant in high-strength steels and must be considered during tool selection and setup.
Bending to 90 degrees according to recomenations longitunal to rolling direction.
