LOGSTOR Finland delivered to Helen Vuosaari power plant district heating pipe line that were produced with thinner steel core pipelines made of higher strength steel. This was the first large size project for Helen to use higher strength steel in district heating pipeline. Higher steel grade enables customer to use lower material thickness tubes in steel core of pipelines which not only reduce weight of the pipes during the transportation but also prolongs lifetime of the pipelines. Power plant is benefiting of the longer lifetime compared with traditional solution and at the same time environment aspect with lower carbon footprint are enabled.
Ålesund is a large Norwegian harbor for cargo and cruise ships. The fishing industry is well-established in the area together with manufacturing of furniture. This may explain the 65,000 containers that move through the area each year, making it one of Norway’s largest container harbors. Two billion fishmeal is exported from this region worldwide each year. Ålesund is also located on the doorstep of picturesque Norwegian fjords and majestic mountains, providing easy access for cruise tourism.
Narvik Harbour consists of four ports including LKAB’s bulk port and the central cruise quay. The harbor is ice-free and well protected from the weather. In 2005, Narvik was granted the status of "Motorways of the Sea" port in the EU system. Only Oslo has this status in addition to Narvik in Norway. The quay area also has railroad tracks connecting Narvik to the rest of Scandinavia and central Europe.
