Hardox® Wearparts

From unique guarding to heat-resistant components, Bin Harkil fabricates slag handling buckets that excel in the most abrasive, high-temperature environments. These heavy-duty buckets are built for leading excavator brands including Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo, Hyundai, Doosan, JCB, Liebherr, CASE and New Holland. For demanding slag applications, Bin Harkil equips its buckets with heat-treated, hardened teeth designed to withstand thermal and mechanical stress.

The challenge

Slag handling in mining and heavy industry exposes equipment to intense abrasion and extreme heat. These conditions can quickly degrade standard attachments, causing frequent repairs, downtime and increased maintenance costs. Without the right materials and design, buckets risk warping, cracking or excessive wear under heavy slag loads and sustained high temperatures.

The solution: Hardox® HiTemp

Bin Harkil turned to Hardox® HiTemp, a wear-resistant steel specifically developed to perform in high-heat environments. Unlike traditional quenched and tempered steels that lose hardness above 200 °C (392 °F), Hardox® HiTemp maintains its hardness and wear resistance at temperatures up to 500 °C (932 °F). The material’s consistent performance is a result of high-quality raw materials and precise manufacturing.
