How ITC benefits

  • 35% reduction in tipper weight, with an increase in load capacity
  • About 40% longer lifespan
  • Reduced transportation and operational costs, including lower fuel use and tire wear
  • As a member of Hardox® In My Body, gains priority access to tech and development expertise

Designed to haul more and save more, ITC’s scrap tippers make every trip count for their customers. This Saudi Arabian manufacturer of tippers, tankers and containers committed to using premium steel materials back in 2013, when it began partnering with SSAB. Now, ITC uses Hardox® 500 Tuf wear steel in their tipper bodies to carry more construction waste and deliver more value to their customers.

“We saw a remarkable reduction in weight in the final product – from 16 to 10.5 metric tons. This has made a significant positive impact for the end customer in terms of reducing their operational costs, such as diesel consumption and tire expenses,” says Ayman Aljabarti, CEO of ITC.

Lower weight for higher payload capacity

Since manufacturing their very first container in 2011, ITC has grown rapidly in the construction waste transportation sector. When they first began working with SSAB, they used Hardox® 400 before upgrading to Hardox® 450. More recently, the company’s 60 cubic meter scrap tippers, which were previously manufactured using 6 mm/8 mm mild steel, were upgraded to 4 mm Hardox® 500 Tuf. And their 20-foot-long scrap containers, built using 5 mm/6 mm mild steel, were replaced by 3 mm Hardox® 500 Tuf. The results – a weight reduction upwards of 30 percent – speak for themselves.

“Using Hardox® steel in our products enables us to achieve significant weight reductions. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the end customer in the product's lifespan and the weight the trailer can carry,” Aljabarti says.

Extra toughness means extended product lifespan

Because of the abrasive materials being transported, ITC’s tipper bodies and containers have to withstand tough operating conditions and demands. Hardox® 500 Tuf wear steel is highly resistant to both dents and cracks. According to Mohammed Khatib, SSAB’s regional sales manager, upgrading to Hardox® 500 Tuf can increase the lifespan of ITC’s products by 40 percent.

Yet despite the toughness and hardness of Hardox® 500 Tuf, it is still extremely user-friendly in the workshop. It’s just as easy to cut, bend and roll as Hardox® 450.

“There’s an environmental benefit, too, because the tipper body is very light, which helps to lower fuel consumption,” Khatib says.

“For us, the best thing about SSAB is that they’re not just a supplier, they’re a partner.”

More than a steel supplier – the benefits of partnership

For ITC, working with SSAB brings many benefits that extend beyond superior steel quality, such as priority technical support, development collaboration and training in fabrication.

“For us, the best thing about SSAB is that they’re not just a supplier, they’re a partner,” CEO Aljabarti says. “Whenever we come across a product that aligns with our aspirations and meets our customers’ needs, we take it to SSAB, who always provide us with engineering updates that we incorporate into our products. Currently, we’re conducting research with SSAB to develop a new product using materials other than Hardox®, where we will integrate Strenx® high-strength structural steel.

A qualified manufacturer of genuine Hardox® steel products

ITC has been a member of the Hardox® In My Body customer program since 2023. According to Aljabarti, this is a recognized mark of quality for their equipment as well as a guarantee of good design practices and use of genuine Hardox® steel and not an inferior imitation.

“Our strong partnership with SSAB, which began in 2013, continues to thrive as we remain committed to its ongoing success. Hardox® In My Body is well known and helps us convert prospects to customers in new areas.”
