SSAB has signed a joint statement together with the other members of the initiative Swedish Leadership for Sustainable Development. We want to state clearly that we are responsible for interdependencies between land and sea in our core operations.

The statement describes SLSD’s view on responsibility for The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), mainly focusing on the interdependencies between sustainability on land and at sea. The statement was presented to Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria in her role as ambassador for SDG at a ceremony on Thursday May 18. Martin Lindqvist, CEO of SSAB and Maria Långberg, EVP, Head of Group HR & Sustainability.

The statement is fully aligned with the aims of SSAB’s main focus in the sustainability arena, the HYBRIT project. HYBRIT aims to develop a steel production process that emits water rather than carbon dioxide. The project has been set up in cooperation with LKAB and Vattenfall. By this statement SSAB and the other members show that the issue of sustainable oceans is important to us and future generations. The oceans are our common responsibility.
