Combi wall
Retaining wall structures based on steel piles are often the best solution to replace traditional, labor-intensive cast-in-place based retaining wall structures.
Contact usRetaining wall structures based on steel piles are often the best solution to replace traditional, labor-intensive cast-in-place based retaining wall structures.
Contact usRR® large diameter piles can be built into a continuous combi wall by welding connectors or complete sheet piles into them. In a combi wall, piles act as the load-bearing structure, while sheet piles installed in between make the wall continuous.
Thanks to SSAB’s high-grade steel, our combi walls have excellent bending stiffness and resistance.

Software for fast and easy design
PileCalc is a design program for SSAB's steel piles. Eurocodes as well as National codes and instructions are applied in the end-bearing pile design.
PileWallCalc design tool enables easy calculation of cross section properties and bending resistances of the pile walls. The program calculates the bending resistances and normal force resistances of RD® pile wall, Combi wall and Zig-Zag Combi wall.
SSAB develops new products and services in order to improve our customers’ performance in sustainability and overall efficiency.
Life cycle assessment data for SSAB’s products are available in the form of Environmental product declarations (EPDs). Manufacturing chain from raw material to finished product is carefully managed.
SSAB has introduced CE marking for infrastructure products. Declarations of Performance (DoP) indicate the technical characteristics of CE-marked products.
LOGSTOR Finland delivered to Helen Vuosaari power plant district heating pipe line that were produced with thinner steel core pipelines made of higher strength steel. This was the first large size project for Helen to use higher strength steel in district heating pipeline. Higher steel grade enables customer to use lower material thickness tubes in steel core of pipelines which not only reduce weight of the pipes during the transportation but also prolongs lifetime of the pipelines. Power plant is benefiting of the longer lifetime compared with traditional solution and at the same time environment aspect with lower carbon footprint are enabled.
Ålesund is a large Norwegian harbor for cargo and cruise ships. The fishing industry is well-established in the area together with manufacturing of furniture. This may explain the 65,000 containers that move through the area each year, making it one of Norway’s largest container harbors. Two billion fishmeal is exported from this region worldwide each year. Ålesund is also located on the doorstep of picturesque Norwegian fjords and majestic mountains, providing easy access for cruise tourism.
Narvik Harbour consists of four ports including LKAB’s bulk port and the central cruise quay. The harbor is ice-free and well protected from the weather. In 2005, Narvik was granted the status of "Motorways of the Sea" port in the EU system. Only Oslo has this status in addition to Narvik in Norway. The quay area also has railroad tracks connecting Narvik to the rest of Scandinavia and central Europe.
