Helaform updated sliding door section to reduce size while maintaining load bearing

Helaform was determined to reduce the size of the track while maintaining its load-bearing capacity. SSAB helped Helaform to update such a section for their needs.

When developing products, Helaform considers the entire chain: from the steel grades they use to the finished product, and how the customer uses our product. It is also very important to SSAB as a section supplier to ensure that the doors move smoothly. Even though the sliding doors are heavy, they are still very easy to open and close manually. SSAB helped Helaform to find the right dimensions and steel grade to meet both strength and zinc coating requirements. Also, the material thickness change resulted in a lighter rail. Helaform aimed for a lighter rail with smaller outside dimensions. SSAB-team calculated different possibilities and explored several options with thinner thicknesses and smaller dimensions. Helaform wanted to further specify some tolerances to ensure excellent hanger functionality.

Both the height and width of the track were changed. This means that the track takes up less space at the installation site and can more easily fit into places with limited installation space. The hanger body was narrowed, and the steering bearing enlarged at the same time to ensure even better straight and stable sliding of the hanger. The 2000 series system is unique in its weight class, enabling extremely large doors and heavy objects to be moved easily. The system is typically used in aircraft hangars and fixing plates, warehouse facilities, logistic centers for truck loading bays and the marine industry.
