Sustainability targets 2020

SSAB's sustainability strategy includes goals and targets for both the short and long-term. The targets on this page are mainly until the end of 2020 and are part of the sustainability strategy, which was defined in 2015. It had three areas: Sustainable Offering, Sustainable Operations and Responsible Partner. During 2020, we renewed our sustainability strategy and set new targets, which are presented on the page “Sustainability targets beyond 2020”.

    1) The 2020 target has been pushed back to 2021 due to the Covid-19 impacts. Customer CO2 savings are calculated by looking at SSAB shipments of high-strength steels to different customer segments and applications. The amount of steel that SSAB supplies above standard practice in the respective industry is calculated for each application (e.g. a truck). This allows determination of the weight saving achieved in the end product by using these higher-strength steels. The resulting fuel savings are estimated by using typical values for fuel consumption, driving distance, useful life, etc. Finally, the CO2 emissions saved are then calculated based on these fuel savings.

    2) New suppliers with spend above 1 MSEK included
