SSAB is attending the PRI2016 (performance racing industry) fair on December 5-10 in Indianapolis, which is one of the biggest motorsports fairs attracting some 1,200 exhibiting companies and thousands of racing professionals from over 70 countries.

“PRI2016 is a truly global show, where we will be telling about the advantages of our Docol R8 tubes for racing cars. In addition to having a booth in the fair, our welding and technical experts from SSAB Americas will give presentations in seminars during the fair,” says Business Developer Owe Nilsson from SSAB Europe.

“Steel can be a very competitive alternative to other materials also in racing cars. And of course, one of our messages to the wider automotive audience is that our Docol R8 is used in the fastest racing classes. So they are safe enough to be used in other cars also,” continues Owe Nilsson.

The racing industry is a demanding customer, being conservative in a good way and wanting to test and test before approving. Docol R8 is used, for example, in the “crash cage” where the driver is sitting.

SSAB is still a fairly small producer for this segment, but has clear growth plans. As pioneers in advanced high-strength steel, we have also a proven track record of helping our customers to develop cars through innovative steel solutions.
