RD® steel casing pipes for reliable results under demanding conditions

RD® steel casing pipes (RD140–RD270), made of longitudinally welded steel pipe, are protective pipes installed by drilling.The standard steel grade is S355J2H. The high strength of RD® casings together with sufficient wall thickness ensures a reliable result even under difficult drilling conditions. All RD® steel casing pipe sizes feature high weldability, enabling easy splicing.

RDc steel casing pipes save up to 90% installation time

RDc steel casing pipes have been developed to drilled casing applications where reliable and especially effective splicing technology is the priority. By using threaded RDc splices during the casing installation it is possible to save up to 90% time compared to traditional splice welding (RDc splicing time approx. 1 – 2 minutes).

RDc steel casing pipes are delivered in 3 meter long elements. Both ends are threaded. The steel casing pipe elements are based on longitudinally welded SSAB Domex Tube Double Grade (S355J2H/S420MH) steel pipe.

Order & delivery

Contact our sales to order steel piles from SSAB's stock or straight from the mill.

SSAB applies the General Conditions, ALBIF 2000, for deliveries with the addition that the parties will comply with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements and refrain from participating in any corrupt business practices.

The technical terms of delivery for steel piles manufactured by SSAB are in accordance with the EN 10219-1 and ETA-12/0526. The dimensions and tolerances are as defined in EN 10219-2 and ETA-12/0526. Engineering work, as applicable, is in accordance with standard EN 1090-2.

Steel piles are delivered with bundle tags and SSAB's pile markings to enable full traceability and identification.

Type 3.1 material certificate will be provided according to the standard EN 10204.

Environmental responsibility and sustainability

SSAB develops new products and services in order to improve our customers’ performance in sustainability and overall efficiency.

Life cycle assessment data for SSAB’s products are available in the form of Environmental product declarations (EPDs). Manufacturing chain from raw material to finished product is carefully managed.

SSAB has introduced CE marking for infrastructure products. Declarations of Performance (DoP) indicate the technical characteristics of CE-marked products.

Underpinning of As Oy Matti in Turku

Underpinning of As Oy Matti in Turku, Finland

Residential building of As Oy Matti was originally built on end bearing timber piles in the end of 1960s. The level of the building has been followed for some years and the first leveling data is from 2012. During the first years of leveling, the building was in practice non-settling. Since 2016 there has been clear settlement on one area of the building. The settlement rate accelerated during years 2018 and 2019, which emerged the need for underpinning of the building.
