HYBRIT: Six years of research paves the way for fossil-free iron and steel production on an industrial scale

The HYBRIT initiative now presents the results of six years of research in a final report to the Swedish Energy Agency. The report shows that direct reduced iron produced with the HYBRIT process has superior characteristics compared to iron produced with fossil fuels. HYBRIT has applied for and received several patents based on the successful results, and the project is now continuing in the next phase where the process is to be implemented on an industrial scale.

Ruukki and Nrep Logicenters to deliver unique logistics center in Finland using Ruukki LowCarbon products

Ruukki Construction, part of SSAB, has signed an agreement with real estate investor Nrep’s logistics arm Logicenters to deliver a unique logistics center in Tampere. The lifecycle emissions of the building will be significantly smaller than usual, as the walls will be made of innovative Ruukki[®] LowCarbon products.
