The mechanical properties are tested in the longitudinal direction.
1) If ReH is not applicable then Rp0.2 is used. On thicknesses >8 mm the minimum yield strength may be 20 MPa lower.
2) For both longitudinal and transverse direction.
1) Impact testing in the transverse direction is available if specified at the time of the order. Minimum impact energy for transverse testing is 27 J at -40° C.
Impact testing according to EN ISO 148-1 is performed on thicknesses ≥ 5mm. The specified minimum value corresponds to a full-size specimen.
1) Sum of Nb, V and Ti = max 0.22%.
The steel is grain refined.

Strenx® 700MC Plus is a Strenx® grade with exceptional properties for bending and mechanical cutting. It allows you to fast-forward the development of new high-performing load-bearing equipment. It has excellent formability and impact toughness for highly demanding applications, which is particularly important when operating in cold climates. Strenx® 700MC Plus meets or exceeds the requirements of EN 10149-2 grade S700MC. The product has a bendability of Ri/t equal to 1 up to 10 mm (0.393”) thickness. At a thickness above 10 mm (0.393”) the Ri/t value is still as low as 1.5.

Moving up from 700 MPa to 900 MPa means you get almost 30% higher yield strength, which is the case if you upgrade from Strenx® 700MC Plus to Strenx® 900 Plus. Your upgraded equipment has higher load-bearing capacity or can be made with thinner steel for reduced weight. If you are ready to explore the opportunities with a stronger Strenx®, you’re always welcome to get in touch with our steel specialists at SSAB Tech Support or SSAB Knowledge Service Center.
