We are replacing the blast furnaces in Oxelösund, Sweden with an electric arc furnace and associated raw material handling. The aim is for the new production system to be up and running towards the end of 2026. The Oxelösund mill is the first in the green transition of SSAB’s entire Nordic production system.
In typical quarry or mining operations, wear plates are essential components in stationary equipment. They serve as liners in hoppers, feeders and chutes, as well as hammers in crushers and screens for sorting. All of these applications endure extensive wear from abrasive rocks and ore, leading to frequent replacements and high maintenance costs.
With its Strenx® Weathering product portfolio, SSAB offers a high-strength structural steel with the amazing corrosion protective properties, while also being more cost-effective than galvanized steel.
