“Our products became highly competitive since Hardox® steel allows us to reduce the thickness of the material, which reduces the body’s weight,” says M. Kaczor, R&D Director at Wielton. “For our steel box bodies, we were able to reduce the weight by 20 percent. Generally, we make careful calculations to ensure we maintain the strength in wear resistance of equipment.”

Based in Poland, Wielton designs and builds tipper and trailer bodies as well as semitrailer chassis for a range of transport and agricultural equipment. Wielton started out using Hardox® 400 in its rigid dump bodies but upgraded to Hardox® 450 as well as Strenx® 700MC in chassis for its curtainside semitrailers, tipper semitrailers and containers. They are looking into upgrading to higher steel grades so they can offer even more weight reductions, increased loading capacity, improved durability and reduced fuel consumption to their customers.
