    Strenx® 700MC Plus high-strength structural steel

Strenx® 700MC Plus is a Strenx® grade with exceptional properties for bending and mechanical cutting. It allows you to fast-forward the development of new high-performing load-bearing equipment. It has excellent formability and impact toughness for highly demanding applications, which is particularly important when operating in cold climates. Strenx® 700MC Plus meets or exceeds the requirements of EN 10149-2 grade S700MC. The product has a bendability of Ri/t equal to 1 up to 10 mm (0.393”) thickness. At a thickness above 10 mm (0.393”) the Ri/t value is still as low as 1.5.

The mechanical properties are tested in the longitudinal direction.

        1) If ReH is not applicable then Rp0.2 is used. On thicknesses >0.315" the minimum yield strength may be 2.9 ksi lower.

        2) For both longitudinal and transverse direction.

                    Fabrication and Other Recommendations

                    Welding, bending and machining

Strenx® 700MC Plus has good welding, cold forming and cutting performance.

Strenx® 700MC Plus is a cold forming steel not suited for heat treatments at temperatures above 1076°F since the material then maylose its guaranteed properties.

                    Ready to upgrade?

Moving up from 700 MPa to 900 MPa means you get almost 30% higher yield strength, which is the case if you upgrade from Strenx® 700MC Plus to Strenx® 900 Plus. Your upgraded equipment has higher load-bearing capacity or can be made with thinner steel for reduced weight. If you are ready to explore the opportunities with a stronger Strenx®, you’re always welcome to get in touch with our steel specialists at SSAB Tech Support or SSAB Knowledge Service Center.
