In this chain-link conveyor the hardness of the bottom plates was increased using the wear resistant Hardox® 500XF. The conveyor is feeding a power plant with wood chips and is in constant operation. After upgrading to Hardox® 500XF, the life-time of the conveyor is thirty times longer than the original. This means 100 years of service without any need for replacements. Additionally, the reduced need to weld new plates saves about 4 400 meters of weld joint over the service-life.
