    To form or stretch cut edges that are crack-free can be a major challenge when working with advanced-high strength steels (AHSS). To reduce the risk of cracked raised edges, SSAB has introduced three new hot-rolled 800 megapascal steels with extremely high edge ductility.

    Docol® HE is suitable for a wide range of chassis components, consoles, seats and parts in power trains, clutches, couplings and any component that is stamped with a stretched edge. Fine blanking with Docol® HE is also excellent, which opens for new areas of use.

    Docol® HE grades meet and exceed EN10149-2. They can be delivered with dual certifications in order to solve current production issues or enable new complex designs without having to change existing standards.

    Docol high edge ductility steels have a much finer microstructure and perlite distribution than conventional HSLA/AHSS steels. SSAB’s exceptionally clean and closely controlled production methods allow us to precisely and consistently achieve this advanced microstructure — which is essential for increased formability, tight radii bending, and crack-free sheared cuts on stretched edges. And Docol HE steels’ low alloy content makes welding straightforward, using conventional processes.

    Grades and mechanical properties for Docol high edge ductility steel

    For best weight reduction, use higher grades with reduced thicknesses. All Docol HE grades are hot-rolled and meet EN10051 dimensional tolerances.
