Humanitarian reconstruction work in Ukraine, coordinated by the Swedish charity organization OperationAid, has progressed to repair houses damaged by Russian aggression. In January 2024, sixteen apartment buildings in the Mykolaiv region were renovated with roofing materials donated by SSAB and Ruukki.

The war in Ukraine continues with devastating effects. To help people in need, we donated approximately 2,500 square meters of roofing materials for the reconstruction in December 2023. The products were manufactured from SSAB's steel at the Ruukki plant near Kiev.

“Sixteen multi-story apartment buildings now have new steel roofs and people have been able to return to their homes. It is also great that our operations in Ukraine continue despite the war, and we are able to manufacture and deliver roofing products to our customers," says Yuriy Obukh, Business Director, Ruukki's Ukraine unit.

SSAB and Ruukki Construction donated roofing products to Ukraine for the second year in a row. On both years, the donated roof profiles, flashings and fasteners have been used for the roof reconstruction of the buildings damaged by the war.
