The aim of the negotiations concerning Ruukki Construction Oy's personnel in Finland was to find ways to adapt the company's operations and cost structure to the weak demand in the construction market.

As a result of the Finnish negotiations, a total of 33 jobs will be lost. This will lead to a workforce reduction of 22 persons. The remaining reductions will take the form of retirements and reorganization of duties. In addition, depending on the market situation, personnel will be temporarily laid off between October 2023 and May 2024. The implementation and duration of the possible temporary layoffs will vary by task and function. The negotiations covered a total of 283 people.

"There has been no change for the better in the market situation during the negotiations. Consequently, we need to restructure operations and possibly also initiate temporary layoffs in order to adjust our operations and cost structure to the predictable load situation," says Sami Eronen, President, Ruukki Construction.

At the end of September, Ruukki employed a total of about 400 people in Finland.
