SSAB included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index

S&P Dow Jones Indices, the world’s leading index provider, has announced the results of the annual review of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. The Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index comprises leading European companies within sustainability, from an environmental, social and governance (ESG) perspective.

“SSAB improved our total ESG score compared to last year, with both governance and social dimensions contributing the most, in addition to the good transparency on our environmental footprint. For two sub-categories, SSAB achieved the highest possible score (100/100): Environmental and social reporting,” explains Anna Viefhues, ESG Manager.

“We are very proud to be included in the Index; it supports our vision and strategy as well as demonstrates our sustainability commitment. We are not only leading the green transition in the steel industry, our score also shows acknowledgement of all aspects of our sustainability work. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do and the benchmark gives us good guidance where we also need to improve further,” says Christina Friborg, EVP and Head of Sustainability.
