Mia Widell appointed as new press manager at SSAB

Mia Widell has been appointed new manager for press and sustainability communications at SSAB.

Mia Widell has many years of experience of communications and journalism. In recent years she has been head of communications in the Christian Democrats party, working closely with party leader Ebba Bush Thor. She was earlier press secretary at the Government Offices of Sweden under minister Mats Odell. She has also worked as a reporter at newsagency Nyhetsbyrån Direkt, where among other things she was involved in following Swedish economic policy and Swedish listed companies.

“With her solid experience of building values through communication, Mia Widell will be a key player in continuing to highlight and explain SSAB’s journey, not least in areas such as sustainability and innovation,” said Viktoria Karsberg, VP, Head of Corporate Identity and Group Communications.

“I am pleased and proud to have the chance join a company with a strong history and an important mission. It will be inspiring to be involved in building the steel company of the future, driven by technological advances and enviornmental work that will contribute to building society both in Sweden and in the world at large,” said Mia Widell.

Mia Widell has studied journalism at Stockholm University. She will take up her new position at SSAB on January 15, 2019 and report to Viktoria Karsberg, VP, Head of Corporate Identity and Group Communications.
