SSAB introduces product sector Tubes & Profiles

April 17, 2013 10:00 CEST
SSAB will introduce its new product sector Tubes & Profiles in connection with the Bauma trade fair in Germany. This new area of steel tubes will act as a complement to the company’s offer of high strength steel. The high strength steel tubes are offered with the same opportunities for flexible, customer-tailored solutions as flat high strength steel.

SSAB’s investment in the production of high strength steel tubes is a part of the company’s goal of meeting the growing needs of customers for different high strength steel products.

– We are well prepared for the start up of the business, said Anna Stiwne at SSAB. We are initially able to offer tubes in our well-known brands Hardox, Domex and Docol. This means that we have tubes that cover a host of different application areas, from structural tubes to wear plate tubes for, for example, the concrete industry.

Tubes & Profiles is a part of SSAB Shape, which is an effort made by SSAB to offer more processed and customer-tailored products. The aim is to be able to offer, in an even more substantial way, technical and practical support to customers when they upgrade to more high strength steel for their products.

Hardox is widely recognized for its wear resistance and strength, and is often used in structures exposed to extreme wear such as excavators, heavy machinery, crushers and trucks.

Domex is used in constructions all over the world, and with the company’s new range of tubes, SSAB wants to broaden the possibilities open to designers to find new lighter, stronger and more environmental solutions. The steel’s strong and light characteristics contribute to vehicles and equipment that can manage a higher payload with lower fuel consumption, and which at the same time have a longer lifespan.
Along with the possibility for placing special orders, large parts of the range are ready for fast delivery directly from the company’s finished stocks.

– SSAB’s vision is to contribute to a stronger, lighter and more sustainable world, and SSAB Shape is a part of our efforts to achieve that vision, concluded Stiwne.
