SSAB teams up with GE Vernova Onshore Wind to supply SSAB Zero™ steel for onshore wind towers in North America.
Ruukki Construction, part of the SSAB Group, is partnering with Honkarakenne to pilot the use of SSAB fossil-free steel in roofing products. The first-ever roof made of fossil-free steel will be installed on a Honka log house in Klaukkala, Finland. The piloting is part of Ruukki's efforts to take the construction industry towards carbon-neutral buildings.
SSAB and Fortum have concluded the FEED study which the companies launched in June 2023. The study had explored the possibilities of making hydrogen-reduced sponge iron also in Raahe, Finland. The two parties agree that it is not possible to find a commercial arrangement that would work for both of them given the existing preconditions, and the FEED study has consequently concluded.
