General Product Description

ASTM A945 GRADE 65 IS AVAILABLE BY INQUIRY ONLY.

ASTM A945 Grade 65 steel plate is a high-strength low-alloy structural steel with improved weldability, formability, and toughness for use in the construction of naval ships. ASTM allows the manufacturer the option to provide plates in thicknesses of 1.25 inches and less in the delivery conditions of as-rolled, normalized, or quenched and tempered. Plates greater than 1.25 inches in thickness must be supplied in the quenched and tempered condition. SSAB's First Article Inspection report is available upon request.

              Chemical Composition

SSAB's chemical composition is in accordance with the requirements of the ASTM A945 Grade 65 specification. Please inquire for any chemistry or carbon equivalent restrictions that are outside the requirements of ASTM.

              Weldability

If Supplementary Requirement S79 for Weldability is specified, the type of weldabilitytest and acceptance criteria are subject to agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. Please contact SSAB for information regarding welding.
