SSAB AM Strong is a gas atomized low-alloyed powder for additive manufacturing of high strength components and tooling applications. The spherical powder is in particular suited for L-PBF (Laser Powder Bed Fusion) and DED (Direct Energy Deposition).
The printed components have a great combination of strength, toughness and hardness in as-printed condition (without additional heat treatment). The as-printed properties give a versatile use such as high-performance components for light weight constructions and engineering products. The as-printed properties also give excellent thermal conductivity and polishability for tooling inserts. The mechanical properties of SSAB AM Strong can by modified through additional heat treatment.
SSAB AM Strong is a steel grade with low CO2 emissions, available as SSAB Zero™. SSAB AM Strong is also planned for fossil-free properties (see www.ssab.com/fossilfree).

All test samples have been produced on a SLM 280 2.0 system, 30 µm layer thickness and tested in the vertical direction.
Standard package size for SSAB AM powder is 10 kg, including silica gel bag. Other package sizes are available up on agreement.
SSAB Zero™ is made of recycled steel and produced with fossil-free electricity and biogas. It has virtually no fossil carbon emissions during steel production, without mass balancing allocation of emission reduction or carbon emission offsetting. SSAB Zero™ has the same quality and properties as the traditional steel versions. More details are given in SSAB Zero™ Certificate of Carbon Emissions at www.ssab.com.
