The factory in Wuhu High Technology Industrial Development zone is expanding quickly. In 2010, CIMC plans to manufacture 15,000 units of concrete mixers, particle containers, tipper bodies and trailers.
- We started business in 2002 and aim to become a major player in the special vehicle market segment. When the locals talk about our development, they just shrug – “it´s the Ruijiang speed”, they say. Says Mr. Sun, technical manager at CIMC Ruijiang.
CIMC Ruijiang uses Domex and Hardox in the beams and bodies of their trailers and tippers. The high strength steel from SSAB has a uniquely pure composition, making it easy to weld and shape even though it is very strong. It also allows producers to reduce the amount of steel needed in production.
- By using SSAB’s materials, we can reduce the weight of products and improve performances. And in the long run, it keeps our end customers happy, since the end products have longer service life, and enjoys a better overall economy, says Mr. Sun.
Domex combines high strength with good formability. By using Domex high strength steel, the deadweight of structures can be reduced, which is particularly useful in applications such as the heavy transport vehicles. The Hardox wear plate is a versatile wear plate that increases payload and service life under tough conditions. Hardox has a combination of high strength, hardness and toughness, which makes it stand up to extreme wear. And the workshop friendliness can save costs in production processes.
CIMC Ruijiang was in contact with SSAB back to 2005 and started using Domex and Hardox since then. The company had been trying different local steel products before that, but the results were not comparable to SSAB’s products.
- We see SSAB as a partner who could help us to develop our knowledge of welding and the optimization of structural design.
- It has always been a pleasure to work with SSAB. They really care about customers’ needs and provide a lot of supports. They are open and easy to communicate. For instance, they offer us technical supports and trainings and help us to solve problems, says Mr. Sun.
Mr. Wang, General Manager and founder of CIMC Ruijiang agrees with Mr. Sun, too.
- SSAB can help us to develop new designs and always try to meet our challenging demands. We are not just buying their products. We are also cooperating with each other, says Mr. Wang.
And obviously the cooperation is a success. CIMC Ruijiangs’ global market share is growing, with big export markets in Africa and South America and a thriving domestic market.
- We want to be a world leading company in the industry. Therefore we only use the best materials in our products. The high strength steel also helps us to meet with new governmental regulations for special vehicles, lower body weight and higher demands on transportation efficiency.
