”Together with our customers, we will get further than anyone else in realizing the full value of lighter, stronger and more durable steel products.”

SSAB has achieved global leadership in the development and production of high strength steels. By replacing traditional steels with advanced high strength steels, end products can be made lighter, stronger and more durable. This assures the end user of better overall economy, while also reducing the environmental impact by lowering the fuel consumption, for instance.

In a global perspective, SSAB is a medium-sized steelmaker with large production plants in Sweden (in Borlänge, Luleå and Oxelösund) and in the USA (in Mobile, Alabama and Montpelier, Iowa). In 2008, the Group turnover was around SEK 54 billion. SSAB has about 8 700 employees in more than 45 countries.

The steel operations of the Group are organized into three geographical business areas: SSAB EMEA (Europe, Africa and the Middle East), SSAB Americas (North and Latin America), and SSAB APAC (Asia and Oceania). The other two SSAB subsidiaries are Tibnor, which is the Group’s trading company, and Plannja, which processes sheet steel to suit the needs of the building market.

SSAB has been quoted on NASDAQ OMX since 1989 and is on the list of the most actively traded shares. Owners include Swedish and international institutions and private investors. The largest single shareholder is the Industrivärden investment company. The stock exchange value of the Group at the end of 2008 was SEK 21 653 million. The SSAB Head Office is in Stockholm.
