About SSAB North American Division

SSAB North American Division (NAD) is the number one supplier of plate in North America. This division operates two steel mills located in Mobile (Alabama) and Montpelier (Iowa) together with three cut-to-length facilities in Toronto (Canada) and St. Paul and Houston (USA). In aggregate, these facilities have an annual capacity of approximately 2.5 million tonnes of crude steel production.

High performance steels with advanced chemical and physical properties manufactured by the NAD are used in a variety of demanding applications. NAD’s flat rolled steelworks can produce discrete plate in thicknesses up to 3 inches and coil in thicknesses up to ¾ inches. Through the Alabama Steelworks, SSAB have expanded value-added product lines to include blast and painted products, as well as quench and tempered, and normalized plate products.
