MSK Cabins manufactures approximately 14,000 cabins a year at its factory in Ylihärmä. The company uses structural hollow sections produced at the SSAB Hämeenlinna Tube mill in, among other things, the manufacture of the cabin frames and pillars. The production turnaround time for one cabin, starting from tube bending to the finished cabin, is a couple of working days.Production waste has been reduced by, for example, machine investments, production automation and optimization of mother tube lengths. Cabin quality has convinced end customers and MSK Cabins’ customer relationships are typically long. A good example of this is the cooperation with Finnish tractor manufacturer Valtra, which has been going for over 50 years.

SSAB’s tubes have worked flawlessly in the production of MSK Cabins, and there have been no quality issues. The uniformity and high quality of the tubes are criteria for efficient production. Cooperation with SSAB is easy and works excellently and topical issues are always discussed at the quarterly meetings. MSK Cabins is following SSAB’s journey to become a fossil-free steelmaker with interest and ready to be part of that journey.

MSK Cabins aims for annual profitable growth. Automation and digitalization will play a key role in creating future competitiveness and also set high demands on material suppliers. Cooperation between SSAB and MSK Cabins is straightforward, the goal is to grow and develop operations together. The next step for MSK Cabins is to automate the order-delivery process and implement EDI.

”It’s truly fascinating to work with a leading company in its field. The end-products are extremely demanding, and therefore the requirements set for material supplier are also very high. It gives us a great opportunity to develop our operations and be even more successful together with MSK Cabins.”, says Jukka Latvatalo, Sales manager, SSAB Europe.

A few years ago, the SSAB Hämeenlinna tube mill acquired two new and efficient tube production lines. The Hämeenlinna tube mill makes both precision tubes and hollow sections in the dimension range 16-127 mm.
