In November 2010 Van Reenen Steel won the prestigious Swedish Steel Prize for their innovation in creating the new truck body, designed to transport ore in mines.
Looking back over the past year Bertus shared some of their experiences.
How did winning the Steel Prize positively affect you, the company and the work environment?
“Winning the Swedish Steel Prize assisted with expanding our business by increasing our credibility with customers and potential customers. Within the company there is also a renewed energy and the employees are proud and inspired. Personally I am awestruck at the snowball effect and positive outcome.”
Looking at your own experience how do you feel the Steel Prize influence the high strength steel industry?
“The Swedish Steel Prize is a unique event. The prize and recognition contribute to the industry. The competition has also increased and keeps us on our toes, enhancing innovation to a higher level. We will definitely continue to enter our new designs.”
In a nutshell – when you hear Swedish Steel Prize what are the first things that come to mind?
“Royalty! We were treated like royalty. The experience left a lasting impression on us with a positive feeling towards the Swedish Steel Prize. What an incredible prestigious experience! Absolutely Awesome!”
Any exciting future plans?
“Van Reenen Steel business is growing at a phenomenal rate especially internationally. We have expanded into China, Western-Australia and India. These are all exciting new developments for us, truly an incredible year and still growing. “
