Scrap-based steel production

The steelworks in Mobile and Montpelier produce steel slabs completely from scrap metal. Production takes place in electric arc furnaces. The steelworks have a crude steel capacity of 1.3 and 1.2 million tonnes respectively. The slabs are processed into heavy plates. The brand Hardox has been produced in the USA since 2011. Stamping facilities are in Houston, St Paul and Toronto. In order to increase proximity to the South American market there are storage facilities in Curitiba (Brazil) and Santiago (Chile).
