In efforts to obtain the overall objectives of the Group, the interaction between values, vision and strategy is decisive. To support the organization on a daily basis, there is a sustainability policy, sustainability targets, and guidelines in issues where further guidance is required. The management systems and action plans ensure that the Group works systematically in critical sustainability issues.

External commitments
SSAB is a member of the UN's Global Compact and supports the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
Strategy
Increase growth for niche products
An increased global awareness for the environment strengthens SSAB's niche product range in the form of advanced high-strength and quenched steels. Structures built with durable and high-strength steel require fewer amounts of steel than when traditional steel is used. By reducing the amount of material used, the impact on the environment decreases in all areas, as lighter structures may, for instance, be loaded more heavily.
Increase profitability in existing facilities
SSAB's profitability is clearly linked to efficacy and cost control. More effective production reduces energy and material consumption, which in turn leads to reduced costs and a lower environmental impact.
Strengthening the organization
Strengthening the organization requires SSAB to be an appealing brand as an employer. This includes good development opportunities, skills development and a safe working environment and responsible conduct.
