Toolox 33 - nominal 300 HBW pre-hardened engineering and tool steel exhibits extraordinary machining characteristics. Use of Toolox 33 enables machine shops/tool rooms to run machining operations at much higher speed when compared with machining conventional tool steel of equal hardness (P20/W.Nr 1.2311 etc.).
The fine-tuning of production processes and routes used for Toolox gives Toolox 33 very high dimensional stability when machining. In the end components/moulds can often be machined with only one set-up when Toolox 33 is chosen, which gives shorter lead times in component/mould manufacturing.
The very high cleanliness of Toolox 33 makes it an ideal choice for moulds where high
polishing (A1 gloss)/texturing capabilities are required.
Toolox 33 shows high impact toughness making it a very suitable choice for further surface engineering (nitriding/PVD-coating), when special demands are put on components/moulds surfaces. When depositing surface layers on Toolox 33 must the temperature be kept below 590 °C.
